The summer days may be winding down, but car show season is still going strong. Mark your calendars for the annual Back 2 School Benefit and Car Show, rolling into the Fairgrounds on September 10th. This major automotive event turns classic cars into much-needed supplies for kids heading back to school.

Hundreds of custom hot rods, vintage rides, and souped-up showstoppers fill the parking areas in a vibrant display of automotive prowess. Car buffs can mingle with fellow enthusiasts and get up close to beasts like Shelby Cobras with gleaming paint jobs, iconic Woody Wagons paneled in rich wood, chrome-laden Lowriders with dazzling paint splashed on their lifted frames, and much more. The family-friendly environment makes for a fun day checking out the sweet sets of wheels while the kids enjoy activities like face painting, contests and arcade games. And a DJ keeps the good times rolling all afternoon with upbeat tunes.

All proceeds go to benefit local students via donations of backpacks overflowing with fresh notebooks, packs of pencils, folders, glue sticks, and other necessary school supplies to set children up for learning success. Attendees are encouraged to bring new back-to-school gear that will be handed out to students in need. The Automotive Alliance Club organizes this event annually with the backing of local businesses to support youth and nurture an interest in cars.

The rows of classic cars are just part of the allure. Dozens of vendor booths stocked with idling engines and shiny custom emblems fill the show with sights and sounds that dazzle the senses. In fact, almost all things automotive can be found here. Auto-themed t-shirts shine bright with flaming engines and fender skirts for the fashion inclined. Car care supplies like Turtle Wax polishes, Meguiar’s professional detailing products, specialty waxes and leather conditioners make for great finds to keep your ride gleaming at home. Even motorsports memorabilia signed by legendary racers is up for grabs. The aroma of juicy barbecue wafting through the air from food trucks completes this full-sensory gearhead experience.

As an added bonus, all registered show vehicles receive a schwag bag stuffed with goodies like coupons, air fresheners and more gifts from sponsors. Trophy prizes and giveaways add to the fun. Awards are given across multiple classes for stock rides, hot rods, imports, special interest and trucks. Best Engine, Paint, Interior and Display also earn coveted prizes. And finally the top dog takes home the crown – Best in Show honors and a trophy to boast until next year’s show.

Pre-register by September 1st to secure your vehicle’s spot in this impressive lineup of over 500 classic beauties. Registration is just $25 to enter your vehicle, which includes one admission ticket. General public tickets are $10 for adults, youth 12 and under are free.

Gates open at 9am to start ogling the rows of custom cars. Personalized license plates shiny enough to see your reflection like “HOTNDN”, “BAD37” and “Dukes” indicate the prided possessions on display. Events and kids activities rev up after lunch. Trophy awards are presented at 3pm to wrap up an afternoon of gearhead fun for a good cause.
